On behalf of the organising committee and IMSANZ, it gives me great pleasure to invite you all to attend, and hopefully contribute to, the 2012 Australasian Annual Scientific Meeting of IMSANZ to be held in Queenstown, New Zealand.

This is the first time that the combined Australasian meeting will be held in New Zealand and is an ideal opportunity for NZ members to host our colleagues, and for Australian members to visit NZ.

The conference theme, Transitions, reflects the boundary zone in medicine often occupied by General Physicians. The meeting programme will be typically broad to reflect this with updates and controversies; and a focus on the transition zones between paediatric, adolescent and adult medicine.

The impressive growth in advanced trainees choosing General Medicine or dual training bodes well for our future. Therefore, it is gratifying that the NZ Advanced Trainees will hold their 2012 study day in conjunction with this IMSANZ meeting and have invited their Australian colleagues. This should encourage a good turnout at the meeting and hopefully also facilitate a number of physicians contributing towards the trainees study day.

The venue alone will make the journey across the Tasman worthwhile as Queenstown is the adventure capital of NZ. We encourage all members to attend and to take advantage of the opportunities this meeting will provide.

See you at the IMSANZ Conference 2012.
